Daniel Willis, Founder of Kajoor

My name is Daniel Willis, and when I was 16 years old, my mother passed away after a long battle with breast cancer. Every day, every hour, since she passed, she has been on my mind. Whether it be inspiration to excel and achieve or the resilience to continue when I don’t, my thoughts of her are constant and the experience changed my life forever. In her passing I read the book “Man’s Search for Meaning” by Viktor Frankl and was deeply moved by it. A quote that stood out to me was a paraphrase of the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche which said:
“He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.”
What I internalized from this quote, along with many others, was that I was not in need of a change in circumstance - I stood in need of meaning. Years of searching for this meaning in my job, relationships, religion, and education has brought me to where I am today. Here, with you.
I have spent years desperately seeking personal meaning sifting through scientific material and putting principles into practice. With an intentional use of the principles and activities included within our programs, I believe anyone can find what they are looking for - no matter the circumstances.
Jacqueline Wilson CTRS
I am Jacqueline Wilson and I have always cared deeply about helping people and supporting them to become the best version of themselves. I genuinely want people to do well, to grow, and to feel proud of the life they are building. That desire comes from my parents, who have always encouraged my siblings and me to try our best, support one another, and live full meaningful lives. Watching the way they believed in us shaped how I see people and their potential.
I did not realize until I went to college that recreation therapy was something I had already been using in my own life. Participating in leisure and meaningful activities helped heal parts of me, brought joy into my life, and gave me a sense of purpose during times I needed it most. Through that experience, I learned that recreation is not just something we do for fun, but something that can help us grow, cope, and reconnect with ourselves. Kajoor exists to help others see that there is hope and joy in the life they are already living. We can become anything we want to in this wonderful life we live.
